Elena Markova-Velinova is a Commissioner at the Energy Regulatory Commission of the Republic of North Macedonia, elected by the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. She currently serves her second mandate (since September 2024), having previously held the same position from 2011 to 2017. In this role, she contributes to the implementation of the national Energy Law covering electricity, natural gas, oil, district heating, water and waste management, and oversees regulatory implementation related to the new Energy Law aligned with the Fourth Energy Package.
Ms Markova-Velinova is a senior electrical engineer and energy regulation expert with more than three decades of professional experience in power systems, energy regulation, inspection, and policy development. Her expertise includes electricity market regulation, renewable energy integration, grid protection systems, and regulatory compliance. She holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering – Power Systems and has completed specialized training in energy diplomacy, energy regulation, and energy supply security.
