Abdulkadir Shettima is an energy sector expert with over 20 years’ experience in electricity market design, regulation, gas-to-power pricing, and sector reform. As Director of the African School of Regulation (ASR), he leads pan-African capacity building, research, and institutional development to strengthen regulatory systems. He has trained thousands of professionals on tariffs, market rules, power purchase agreements, and quality of service regulation.

Previously at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), he held senior roles across Market Analysis, Tariffs and Stakeholder management. He led the development of muti-year tariffs orders, utility performance improvement reviews, metering, loss reduction and improving customer service and accountability.

He has extensive experience in gas‑to‑power pricing frameworks, market rules, power purchase agreement structuring, privatisation processes, and regional market development. With a PhD in Energy Economics, he combines technical expertise with strong policy and implementation experience.
