Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC)
Givi Sanikidze has been a Commissioner of GNERC since December 2023. Prior to his appointment, he served as Director of the Tariffs and Economic Analysis Department (2014–2023), Deputy Executive Director (2012–2014), and Head of the Financial Analysis Division (2011–2012).
He has extensive experience in tariff setting, economic regulation and regulatory cost audit. Throughout his career at GNERC, he has led the development and implementation of electricity tariff methodologies and contributed to strengthening regulatory accounting and market oversight practices.
He has participated in numerous international training programs and internships, including at the Kentucky Public Utilities Commission and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (USA), BNetzA (Germany), NARUC and ERRA, as well as within EU Twinning projects.
Dr Sanikidze holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Credit from Akaki Tsereteli State University and a PhD in Energy and Electrical Engineering from the Georgian Technical University.
