Kenya’s Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA)

Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria, MBS, OGW, is the Director General of Kenya’s Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). An expert in energy policy and legislative drafting, he was a key architect of Kenya’s Energy Act (2019) and Petroleum Act (2019). His extensive leadership includes chairing the government’s First Oil Committee and serving as the legal advisor to the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

Regionally and internationally, Mr. Bargoria chairs the Independent Regulatory Board of the Eastern Africa Power Pool and the Regional Association of Energy Regulators for Eastern and Southern Africa. He is also the Vice Chair of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators.

He holds an MBA in Energy & Sustainability, an LLM in Petroleum Law, and is a Harvard Senior Executive Fellow. Recognized for his outstanding service, he has been awarded the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) and the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS).
