Iñigo del Guayo is Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Almería (Spain). He got his two law degrees (LLM and PhD) from the University of Navarre (Spain). He has researched and published widely in the areas of energy law, public law instruments to deal with insolvency, public services, and town and urban planning law, within a wider interest in public economic law and regulation. He is author of more than 300 scientific publications, among monographs, chapters in collective books and articles in journals. He is the editor and a co-author of the three editions of the Book «Energy Law in Europe. National, European Union and International Law and Regulation» (Oxford University Press, 2001, 2007 and 2016). Since 1995 he has been a member of the Academic Advisory Group (AAG) of the Section on Energy, Environment, Resources and Infrastructure Law (SEERIL) of the International Bar Association (IBA), of which he was the Chair (2020-24). He has produced many reports on a variety of legal issues for public and private institutions. Director of the Master on Energy Law, of the Spanish Energy Club. A founding member and currently President of the Spanish Energy Law Association (AEDEN). Member of the scientific committee of the European Federation of Energy Law Associations (EFELA). Founder and member of the Council of the Latin American Association for Energy Law (ASIDE), of which he was President (2024-25). Member of the Latin American Forum for Administrative Law. Member of the Spanish Royal Academy for of Jurisprudence and Legislation. Member of the International Academy of Comparative Law.
