Dr. Fatih Kölmek is an accomplished energy executive with over two decades of experience in energy strategy, market design, energy infrastructure, regulatory policy, and energy transition. As the CEO of Kalyon Enerji, he oversees a premier portfolio dedicated to renewable energy and infrastructure, including Europe’s largest solar power plant (Karapınar SPP, 1,350 MWp).

Prior to joining Kalyon, Dr. Kölmek held senior leadership roles at Tetra Tech and the United Nations (UNOPS), where he led strategic technical assistance projects to modernize Ukraine’s and Moldova’s electricity sector, facilitate integration with the ENTSO-E grid, and support market reforms across Central Asia.

His extensive background includes more than a decade at Türkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA). Starting as an energy expert in the electricity sector, he served as an Advisor to the Board on regulation of energy markets before heading key units, including Organized Electricity Markets, Electricity Transmission, and Strategy & Sector Policies. He was instrumental in advancing day-ahead and balancing markets, ancillary services, and renewable energy support schemes as well as bilateral and international regulatory cooperation. A scholar-practitioner, Dr. Kölmek holds a BSc and MSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University and a PhD in Economics from Hacettepe University. He has also taught graduate-level and training courses on electricity market, energy transition and power system flexibility.
