Ms Sylvia Elisabeth Beyer, a German national, is a senior energy policy analyst in the IEA Strategic Initiatives Office. Sylvia leads the delivery of the IEA’s multilateral collaboration across several fora, notably G20, G7 and COP.
Sylvia took up her duties at the IEA in 2012. For over a decade, Sylvia has managed IEA energy policy country reviews, supporting knowledge exchange and partnerships with IEA member, partner and accession countries.
Prior to the IEA, she served as policy officer at the European Commission DG Energy with a focus on gas security, energy infrastructure, EU budget and the Connecting Europe Facility. She was involved in the development of the EU energy policy, starting with the EU Strategic Energy Review in 2006.
During 2006-2009, Sylvia worked at APCO Worldwide in the telecoms and energy practice and at the Union of Electricity Industry (Eurelectric) in Brussels in the energy policy unit on the ‘Role of Electricity’ report.
Sylvia holds a diploma in economics, culture, and business administration from Passau University in Germany and a postgraduate master in European Studies from the College of Europe.
